Registered charities in the greater Auckland region that have a focus on health equity, alleviating the symptoms of poverty, and increasing community health and wellbeing through education or other services are invited to apply for grants of $20,000 or more from the ProCare Charitable Foundation 2018 funding allocation.
Charities that meet this criteria have from Monday 10 September to Wednesday 31 October 2018 at 5pm to submit an application to be considered for this round of funding.
Now in its fourth year, the Foundation was set up so members in the ProCare general practice network - and others wishing to donate to the Foundation - could support registered charities who assist the communities within which they work.
Foundation chair June McCabe says: "We recognise the significant contribution charity organisations make working at the coal face of community life. The Foundation in a small way hopes the grant funding can help these organisations do more for their members for better health outcomes”.
Applications are welcomed from across a broad spectrum of charities. Out of a pool of 60 applicants, funding from the Foundation’s 2017 allocation supported eight diverse charities including those providing health education in schools, community support for the elderly, and a dedicated Heart Kids community support worker for families in South Auckland who have children living with rheumatic heart disease or a congenital heart defect.
